The Petzl Attache Bar is more than just another locking carabiner. It is a well-thought-out piece of equipment that solves one of the common problems when belaying – dangerous cross-loading of the carabiner. Thanks to the removable positioning bar, you are guaranteed that the carabiner will always remain loaded on its major axis, whether you are belaying a partner or abseiling. This is a key element for safe movement in the vertical world.

Two modes, one solution

You can use this carabiner in two ways, depending on what you currently need:

• With the positioning bar: Ideal for attaching a belay device to a harness. The bar effectively prevents rotation and cross-loading. Furthermore, a clever mechanism ensures that you cannot close the bar until the locking sleeve is fully screwed shut. Similarly, you cannot open the sleeve as long as the bar is closed. Simple and functional.
• Without the positioning bar: When you do not need the bar, you simply remove it, leaving you with a lightweight and compact HMS carabiner. Its shape is optimised for rope work, for example, when belaying with a Munter hitch. Smooth rope glide and easy tying and untying of knots are a matter of course.

Well-thought-out details

Petzl has paid attention to every detail. The H-shaped profile reduces weight without compromising strength. The KeyLock system prevents accidental snagging on the rope or slings. The SCREW-LOCK locking sleeve also features a red visual indicator, so you can see at a glance whether the carabiner is locked.

Our tip

Leave the bar permanently on the carabiner that you use exclusively for connecting your belay device to your harness. For other purposes, such as setting up a belay stance or belaying with a Munter hitch, simply take it off and store it so you do not lose it.
