Head torches
A head torch on your head has one advantage that a light on the handlebars will never have: it shines where you look.
In a corner and in technical terrain, you therefore see before the bike gets there. However, it does not replace a front light, as it does not cast a beam on the ground in front of the bike, and oncoming traffic has a harder time judging it. The ideal setup is therefore both at once. Bear in mind that you will feel the battery on your head, and battery life drops in freezing weather — for long night rides, look for a model with a separate power source.
