wet lubricant lasts in the rain and mud, but the chain clogs up faster. Wax is the cleanest option and requires more thorough chain preparation. Apply the lubricant drop by drop to each link, let it soak in, and wipe off the excess — a surplus on the surface acts like a grinding paste. Brake fluid varies by system; mineral oil and DOT are not interchangeable, and mixing them up will destroy the seals. Therefore, check the brake manual before you top anything up.
