The NOMIC ice axe sets the standard for ice climbing. It is perfectly balanced, equipped with weights, and offers an exceptional swing. The new PUR'ICE picks ensure efficient placement in any type of ice. The shape of the ice axe and the double handle allow multiple grip modes and stable hand switching. The grip is comfortable thanks to the ergonomic handle and the adjustable GRIPREST handrest. Thanks to the minimalist hammer, the head is protected and allows you to hammer pitons. The ice axe is fully modular and can be adapted to the terrain.
Efficient placement in any type of ice:
- the perfect shape and balance of the ice axe provide an exceptional swing
- the curve under the head makes it possible to use the ice axe for hooking
- the PUR'ICE pick tapers at the tip (3 mm) and offers excellent penetration in any type of ice, including the hardest ones. It is serrated on the upper edge to offer stable support when used upside down
- inertia and swing quality are optimised by MASSELOTTE weights
Comfortable handle designed for technical ice climbing:
- multiple grip options and stable hand switching thanks to the double handle (lower and upper)
- the lower handle is offset to protect your hand from contact with the ice and to provide greater comfort when suspended
- the moulded bi-material upper handle offers excellent grip and insulation against the cold
- the hydroformed shaft provides optimal grip in the middle
Modular construction:
- the fully modular head construction allows the technical features of the ice axe to be adjusted
- compatible with Petzl accessories: ICE, DRY, PUR'DRY picks, PANNE adze, and MARTEAU hammer
- supplied with the MINI MARTEAU mini hammer, which protects the head and allows you to hammer pitons
- without accessories, the ice axe is lighter for dry tooling (only 500 g)
- the GRIPREST NOMIC handrest is rotatable and adjustable to three positions, adapting to all palm sizes, even when wearing gloves - the lower part has a stainless steel spike that improves support when used in piolet-canne mode
- the attachment hole on the lower steel spike is used for attaching V-LINK elastic tethers to prevent loss; it is not designed for a belay lanyard
- the attachment hole at the top of the plastic handle is used for connecting leashes or a belay lanyard
