Tip protectors for Nordic walking poles
You do not need most running equipment for a half-hour run, but on a long trail, it makes all the difference.
Poles save your legs on steep climbs and help maintain rhythm; learning to run with them takes a while, so do not try it for the first time in a race. A bum bag or a phone holder keeps the things that must not bounce in place. For night runs, you need a head torch with a sufficient run time. A simple rule applies: whatever you take into a race must be tested in training, including how it carries after three hours.
