Down sleeping bags

on hikes where every litre in your backpack counts, you can really tell the difference. Quality is determined by fill power in cuin: the higher the number, the more warmth per gram. Its weakness is moisture, as wet down clumps together and stops insulating; for damp conditions, therefore, reach for treated down or synthetic filling. At home, store your sleeping bag loosely laid out, not compressed in its stuff sack.
