A screw holds only as well as the ice around it — in brittle, aerated or sun-baked ice, no chart values apply.
Longer screws hold better and are suitable for high-quality ice, shorter ones are used where the layer is thin. The sharpness of the teeth is crucial: a blunt screw is hard to place and you will feel it most when you are tired, so have it sharpened after the season. Building belays and assessing ice quality is learned in a course, not from a description.
