Cranksets vary in length, which depends on your height and riding style; a longer one provides more leverage, while a shorter one spins faster and is gentler on the knees.
Before buying, check the bottom bracket standard on your frame, because there are many of them and they are not interchangeable. The number of teeth on the chainring determines how hard it is to pedal: fewer teeth mean easier climbing and a lower maximum speed. A single chainring simplifies maintenance and operation. You can find the length of your current crankset from the stamping on its inner side.
