Standard pedals
For commuting and recreational trips, a standard pedal is perfectly enough — you get on in the shoes you have and don't need to worry about anything.
Reflectors on pedals are a mandatory part of a bike's equipment, so do not throw them away when replacing them. When fitting, remember that the left pedal has a reverse thread and tightens anti-clockwise; doing it the other way is the most common way to destroy a crank. Lightly grease the thread, otherwise you won't be able to loosen it after the season. A metal axle lasts longer than a plastic body.
