With a hub, several dimensions need to match at the same time: the spacing in the frame or fork, the axle type, the number of spoke holes, and for disc brakes, the rotor mount type.
A rear hub also has a freehub body, which is specific to the manufacturer and the number of gears. Higher-quality hubs have faster ratchet engagement, meaning they engage sooner when you pedal, which you will appreciate in technical terrain. Bearings are consumable parts and can be replaced, so a creaking hub does not necessarily mean a new wheel. Measure the spacing and the axle before you start choosing.
